Purchasing Manager Raw Materials.
Ervaring
1998 - to date Purchasing Manager Raw Materials (Solvents and Chemicals €100 million spend).
The activity comprises purchasing:
• Over 100 different types of solvents.
• More than 200 raw materials for resins and emulsions manufacturing.
• Active day to day negotiations with more than 50 suppliers.
• Successfully reduced the impact of higher prices in a rising oil price scenario.
2005 -2007 Assistant Purchasing Manager Raw Materials.
During the period 2005/2007 I was given a much greater degree of responsibility for two groups of raw materials (solvents in drums/small bulk and resin raw materials). This role gave me:
• A good understanding of these markets and their drivers.
• Extensive experience of commercial negotiations.
I also actively participated in the Resin Raw Materials PEP Project based on the use of the Accenture Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) process. Working the TCO cross-functional team gave valuable insights into the resin raw materials business and an excellent (and accelerated) introduction to a large number of suppliers.
• Achievements: Accumulated savings amounting to ca €3 million.
2004 - 2006 Sourcing Analyst.
This was my introduction to commercial activities and my work in these roles was to help the Central Purchasing Manager with day-to-day operational activities.
Important activities included:
• Preparing/carrying out price requests.
• Contacting suppliers about price differences.
• Contacting possible new suppliers.
• Finding alternatives for raw materials.
• Contacting & convincing R&D to test and approve alternative raw materials.
• Contacting factory logistics departments on delivery issues.
• Contacting & convincing the Legal Department to get contracts signed.
This work enabled me to gain an understanding of a number of groups of raw materials and their markets.
My role gradually evolved from acting as an analyst supporting the purchasing managers to one of actively purchasing raw materials on my own account.
1999 - 2004 Purchasing Trainee/Sourcing Analyst.
I started as purchase trainee for transport. Here I created a central register and took over responsibility for administration for all group rebates including making projections for the purchasing department rebate volumes/values for senior management. I also had the responsibility for monitoring rebates throughout the year/ making sure all the money that was due to the company from suppliers was actually collected. This last activity was carried out in close co-operation with the Group Finance Department, which proved to be a very positive experience.
1998 -1999 After completing University I worked at a back-office job. The international team was preparing information (related to credit positions of the bank’s global clients) that ultimately had to be uploaded in a new database. This activity gave me the first opportunity of working in an international team.
