On July 1, 2007 outsourced as Procurement Manager/Consultant at EMEA level (Chemical Industrie).
Responsible for the following ‘indirect’ commodities : Logistics, Travel, Fleet, Office Supplies & Consultancy.
In this function, I have to review and verify the complete indirect procurement processes and (re)structure where necessary. In all EMEA countries I’m working close together with local Sr. Buyers/Managers, who report to me.
Tasks:
- set-up EMEA contracts
- implementing these contracts
- benchmarking existing contracts
- cross boarding activities
- reducing the number of suppliers
2005 - June 2007 Procurement & Supply Chain Manager.
Responsible for a group of Sr. Buyers, on behalf of X, who outsourced all their indirect procurement activities for the whole group and for all their different brands.
As “Integrated Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, Fleet (1600 cars),Logistics (incoming goods), Marketing & Office Supplies were my most important responsibilities.
Tasks:
- set-up pan-European contracts
- implementing and coordinating these contracts
- cost reduction initiatives
- re-negotiate existing contracts
- finding synergies
2001 – 2005 Travel Manager.
Started in April in order to restructure it.
Without having any experience regarding this matter, I had exactly 6 months time to get to know everything about it. I succeeded and in a period of 2 years, I managed to reduce the T & E expenses with more than the double of the European average, due to re-negotiations with suppliers and more specific the setting up of new contracts.
I also implemented an online booking tool and gave the necessary trainings to +/- 120 secretaries and key-users. One year after, the adoption rate was already 64%, which was a great success. In my function as Travel Manager, I worked also very close with the Marketing department for all MICE related activities. Less than 1 year after I started as Travel Manager, I also became responsible for the complete fleet-management in Belgium & Luxemburg, 2200 vehicles.
At the same time, I became one of the 7 members of the Purchasing Council within the organization for “Travel & Fleet”, worldwide. Together with a German colleague, we structured and –where necessary- re-structured the complete European fleet situation. Together, we’ve negotiated a European lease agreement and we succeeded to realize huge savings by re-negotiation the existing contracts and the sales conditions with the car manufacturers. We’ve set up also a European shortlist and implemented this in all the European countries, taking into account the culture and the needs of each country.
1997 - 2001 Purchasing Officer.
Due to my experience, foreign language knowledge, negotiation skills and especially due to my ‘never give up’ mentality and the hard working, I’ve got several promotions to end up as a Procurement and Contracting Responsible
1978 – 1997 Own Business, wholesale & manufacturing of horse equipment.
30 people employed. Ranked number 2 in Europe and I’ve sold it to my biggest competitor in Germany.
