As one of the three Capex purchasers taking the lead in supplier selection tendering process, commercial negotiation and contract fixing process involving various mainly large-scale equipment and factory extensions. Currently focussing on two large-scale strategic projects viz.: three new baby food production lines and a premix powder production line;
Actively contributing (technically and commercially) as Project Team Member and Advisor to Steering Committee to achieving budget / planning targets;
In addition I am involved in corporate projects.

Responsible for rolling out Supplier Code of Conduct, covering our, world-wide, Baby Food & Medical Nutrition division.

1998 – 2006 Technical Maritime Surveyor.
Attending to mainly large-scale casualties occurring in the international marine industry, providing assistance and attending joint surveys on board ocean going ships fixed and floating objects and/or assistance to ‘principals’, mainly at Rotterdam area and along the Dutch coast, occasionally on a world-wide basis;
Negotiating about scope of repair-work, writing repair specifications, initiating tender procedures, negotiating an acceptable price and settlement;
Interviewing vessel’s command / parties concerned, collecting relevant information, in order to formally report a well-motivated, technically supported opinion as to the cause and consequences of the reported allegation / incident;
Third-party claim handling;
Reporting and consultation with underwriters, ship operators, shipyards, authorities, terminal owners, (instructing) specialists and lawyers during the progress of the case handling;
On the basis of underwriter’s terms and conditions drawing up a costs apportionment covering the claimed amount;
Incorporating all aspects of allegation / incident and subsequent actions taken in a conclusive document.

1992 - 1998
• Africa Representative (1997 – 1998)
Based in Africa, managing continues shipping (bulk-cargo/bagging) operations along the East African coast;
Employing five up to sixty local and European specialists on site; Production and control of company’s Tanzanian budget;
Actively contributing towards achievement of budgeted tonnages and collection of monies related thereto;
Technical / commercial management of the Dar es Salaam (36.000 mtons) grain terminal;
Maintenance of: operational, technical and financial documentation; Reporting to the United Kingdom based Board of Directors.

• Marine Superintendent/Senior Engineer (April 1992 – March 1997)
Travelling extensively, developing new locations;
The objective of the job is to discharge bulk shipments by means of company and / or port owned mobile bagging equipment;
Providing on the spot solutions to arising operational and technical problems mainly in poorly equipped ‘third world’ countries;
Managing these mostly one-off projects with up to sixty local stevedores involved as well as a team of mostly three European technicians during 24 hrs per day ongoing operations. Keeping close contacts with owner(s) of the cargo, agents, charterers, local port authorities up to government level and receiver(s) of the cargo; Reporting to the Board of Directors.
